Chris' Tour Diary
TEAM SPIDER and LEFTOVER CRACK CafŽ Metropolis, wilkes barre Pa. Aug 2, 2003 A great hot sweaty night indeed. HavenÕt seen our friends in LoC for a while so it was a bit of a reunion of friends and lot of fun. They are----------pp( my cat typed that ) returning from a e98Õ eyyuuuuuuuuuuuuu European Tour and Recording their new album with Steve Albini ( Nirvana, Big Black ), and asked us to open for Ôem in our old hometown area of Wilkes barre. A great show, though unbearably hot. No fans ( rotating fans) , no ventilation and filled to capacity. From the stage you couldnÕt see the back of the club it was so thick with humidity. Great sing- alongs with people knowing all the words to songs like ÔSummertime in the city" and ÔBravery.Õ A good time had by all, and CHRIS invited everyone to the ERIC KAMMER memorial show later this moth (Aug 30th )at MURRYÕs INN Bar in wilkes barre. Leftover Crack, of course kicked ass. Brad from F minus filled in for absent EZRA and broke his guitar string, so brad/****************** finished the set with chrisÕ Jaguar, which is now permanently discolored from the toxic mix of Brad and ChrisÕ sweat. Chris, dave n chad wanted to stay and hang in wilkes barre with some old friends so ZAK went home to NYC with Leftover Crack. Stza asked "do you like dogs?" Zak responded " are they already cooked?" So ZAK rode in the back of the van with no seats, just him, stza, and three giant dogs. When they stopped for gas ZAK reached out with a fiver to chip in fro gas and a german shepard bit him in the arm. ( zak: "he trained with the naziÕs ") So, to make friends with the dogs, and to distract them while he ate his food, Zak bought them beef jerky. "I thought it would keep them busy, but they sucked it up like spagetti and then wanted mine." Finally, coming out of the Holland tunnel the van, driven by "a tatooed lady with a couple a beers in her" bounced off the wall at the exit of the tunnel. Zak: "I got a song out of it, but at what price!" FDR skate park, Philly Pa. Sat july 26th Outdoor skatepark show featuring not only insane music, even crazier skate tricks, but also people smashing 4 foot flouresent tubes over each other heads, and tossing m-80Õs into the half pipes as 'skate or die' disciples tried to do tricks. Despite the chaos Team Spider were able to pull off a rousing set which inspired two large dogs to consumate their love in a dance pit filled with smashed computer monitors, broken glass and gunpowder. ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES Public Access Night Wed. July 23, 2003 Invited to take part in a big screenÕ theatrical retrospective of public access television. Team Spider was honored with a look back on their last five years of producing public access television. Going as far back as the infamous ÔNight at ninoÕsÕ episode ( shot in real time in one half hour outside ninoÕs pizza on ave, A ) and the ÔDate with NateÕ episode ( featuring 8 hours of tourturing a passed out friend ÔnateÕ before putting him out in the trash). The night also highlighted many new episodes like ÔStealthing in to the Rolling StonesÕ and footage from Team SpiderÕs recent headlining gig at CBGBÕs. It was standing room only event that culminated with an after party attended by the producers of Concrete TV, The Church of Shooting Yourself, and Snuffles Wild Record Collection among others. THE SAINT: Asbury park, New Jersey- july 16 2003 Team Spider co-headlined w/ INSTANT DEATH , (which features Dave from Ween on bass and vocals). Team Spider had a nice swim in the ocean before they kicked New JerseyÕs ass and premiered their new song Ô Denim and Diamonds, Zak joined Instant Death for a ZAK / INSTANT DEATH collaboration: 'Demon in my boom box.' Chris spent the rest of the night drinking on beach with locals across from the infamous Stone Pony. That was, until early morning when the police showed up to evict the homeless people and squatters camping in an abandoned warehouse beautifully located right on the beach. TEAM SPIDER LIVE @ LEGENDARY, SCUMMY, HELD TOGETHER BY STICKERS..... CBGB's! 10 pm, THURSDAY July 3rd.--- AH yes, back home in the muck Played with some anarchists from Pittsburg ( DESPITE BEST INTENTIONS ) and punk rock n rollers from canada ( RUTHÕS HAT ) and had a good time. We were supposed to be joined by original team Spider drummer george on sax for 'know that I love you', but he showed up at 11pm, and we went on at 10pm. George responded in classic george turnaround with 'oh, I thought you meant 10 pm team spider time.' Which doesnÕt make much sense since CBGB always starts everything on time, but whatever--- another time! We made new fans / friends with some cool guys from Wales, UK who have wanted to visit CBGB since the 70Õs, so this night was like a trip to mecca for them! They took pictures with the band and got lots of cdÕs and bacteria samples of monkey pox to bring back to the ole UK.
